We’ve talked about Loop’s re-usable containers before and the potential that they have to drastically change our reliance on single-use packaging. Now, in partnership with Burger King reusable containers have been revealed which will go on trial next year. Customers will have to opt in to the reusable packaging, and pay a small deposit which is refunded upon returning the packaging, which we hope wont represent too much of a barrier to uptake. Rolling out in the US and Japan initially, we think the most exciting part of this is the potential scale that a brand such as Burger King can achieve. If sustainable packaging solutions like this can work at a business of this size, the impact could be huge and no doubt will have further positive effects on the rest of the food service industry.
