We’ve prevously discussed how important biodiversity is to securing a good food future for all, so are encouraged by the development of a new index by Biodiversity International which tracks countries agrobiodiversity. With the report finding that only nine plant species provide 66% of the world’s crop production, it proves that monitoring biodiversity is crucial in order to halt further decline. With only 10 countries assessed currently, we hope this index, along with levels of biodiversity, continues to grow.
