Food Made Good is a successful, ready to deploy program for cities, states and countries that want to engage and support their food service sector around the sustainability challenge and who recognise that chefs and restaurants have a leadership role to play in changing consumer behaviour.
Originally created by The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) in the UK, the initiative was launched in 2010 with a practical, business focussed approach. Today the SRA has grown to a team of 18 people, that deliver the Food Made Good program to a community of twelve thousand member kitchens, from cafes to Michelin star restaurants, university canteens to inflight caterers, influencing the sustainability of over 1bn out of home meals per year.
The Programme is based on a membership model and works through four pillars of practice:
We define sustainability.
- Our framework is a comprehensive guide to the sustainability issues that food service businesses need to consider and focus on.
We inspire action.
- Through information and toolkits, partnerships and supplier offers, events and consumer campaigns we encourage our members to improve, year on year.
We rate performance.
- We provide the industry standard sustainability assessment for food service, allowing for effective management and benchmarking.
We reward members
- Members that achieve the threshold score in the rating are awarded one, two or three stars - 'the Michelin stars of sustainability' and we bring members together annually to celebrate success.
Membership services are delivered through a bespoke digital platform that maximises efficiency and ensures that hundreds of members can be managed by a small core team.
The platform operates in three parts:
A PUBLIC WEBSITE
That helps potential members understand the benefits and provides the public with a simple way to find sustainable restaurants.
A MEMBERS ONLY SITE
That gives members access to a busy forum, the resource centre and the audit.
A SALESFORCE BASED CRM
That gives you the tools to track member activity on a dashboard and manage communications from a central hub.
